Installation (lead sheet, steel, wood, mirror, mixed media, 220 x 460 x 130 cm)
In an era characterised by unprecedented environmental challenges and geopolitical tensions the threat of an inevitable climatic and nuclear disaster looms ominously on the horizon. While many stakeholder groups advocate preventive measures and collective action to mitigate these crises, a subset of individuals adopts a subjective fatalist perspective, resigned to the belief that these disasters are inevitable and beyond human control. This apathetic resignation is a reaction to the cognitive dissonance between the recognition of the seriousness of the problems and the impossibility of implementing effective solutions.
The shadows cast on the screen create a dystopian landscape made up of a chaotic array of objects, with the only light coming from the shimmering metallic leaves of the mythical fig tree of a lost Eden, mutated by radiation.
