THE CONCEPT OF LIGHT ART MUSEUM
Light Art Museum is a space for artistic experiments with light. It is one of the first exhibition spaces in the world to specialise particularly in the collection, research and exhibition of such works. The works on display in the museum explore liminal zones between imagination and reality, demonstrating to visitors the aesthetic utopias characterising the diverse uses of light as well as the most innovative artistic potentials of the medium.
THE BUILDING
The venue where these works are on display is emblematic, since electricity, inseparable from the industrial revolution, became an integral part of everyday life just as the engineering architecture of the late 19th century was erecting its industrial and commercial buildings linking production with consumption, such as the Hold Street Market Hall, which houses the Light Art Museum. The radically new museum environment was created without altering the building, adapted to its original features, giving the space a new function and preserving its original appearance and atmosphere.
MORE THAN A MUSEUM
In addition to staging spectacular exhibitions, it is an important mission of the Light Art Museum to act as a catalyst for knowledge sharing, innovation and collaboration within the scene by organising a variety of professional programmes for creative technology professionals.
